We are located in the centre of the picturesque village of Orton, about 20 miles south of Penrith and 12 miles north-east of Kendal in the Westmorland Dales National Park and on the edge of the Lake District, close to the M6 Motorway - Junction 38 just 2 miles away. Our factory shop is open all year round (with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day). Our Coffee House is open Mondays to Fridays 9am to 3.45pm but is closed at weekends for the time being - sorry!  However, we do offer takeaway hot & cold drinks through the week and at weekends. In case of need, there are public toilets just opposite our front door.

Travelling By Road

We are situated in the centre of the village of Orton, just set back from the main Tebay to Appleby Road (B6260),opposite the village hall. There is free parking (hooray!) in the village and no traffic wardens (hooray again)!

If you are travelling from the south, exit at Junction 38 (Tebay) of the M6 Motorway, take the first road left from the roundabout at the end of the motorway slip road, signposted to Orton and Appleby. After just over 2 miles you will reach Orton. Travel on the main road until you pass the George Hotel on the left a little way further on you will reach the village hall  we are located opposite.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE B6261 ROAD IS CURRENTLY CLOSED AND IS EXPECTED TO BE CLOSED FOR 20 WEEKS COMMENCING JULY 2024 WHILE ELECTRIC CABLES ARE LAID FOR EV CHARGING POINTS AT TEBAY SERVICES. The following directions are therefore currently suspended: "If you are travelling from the north, exit from Junction 39 (Shap) of the M6 Motorway. Take the first minor road to the left signposted Orton (5 miles). As you enter the village, down the rise, bear right round past the Post Office and Stores. After about 100 metres, there is a parking area on the left which is situated adjoining our building."

If you are travelling from the north-east, follow the A685 from Kirkby Stephen until you reach the roundabout at the M6 Junction in Tebay. Take the third exit right from the roundabout, signposted Orton and Appleby (B6260). After just over 2 miles you will reach Orton. Travel on the main road until you pass the George Hotel on the left a little way further on you will reach the village hall -  we are located opposite.

If you need any more help, just give us a call and we'll try and direct you to a safe arrival outside our front door! Telephone 01539 624 781.

There is a wheelchair ramp at the front door and double opening doors, which allows easy access to the factory shop for people in wheelchairs or little ones in pushchairs. Unfortunately, the coffee house is on a different level in the building, but wheelchair and pushchair access is possible through a side-door which can be opened by our staff on request. Our friendly and helpful staff are on hand, if you require any assistance.

One of two spacious WC's located at the far end in the coffee house is a disabled facility.
